Event description:

The Mory’s Board of Governors is delighted to host a reception to honor Yale’s first women undergraduates. These trailblazing women changed the face of Yale, both literally and figuratively, and their efforts in those early years have benefitted the generations of students who have followed.

The 50th anniversary of coeducation is a fitting time to honor another pioneer.  During this reception, Elga Wasserman ’76 JD will be posthumously awarded the Mory’s Cup, which will be presented to her family.

The Mory’s Cup has been awarded since 1927 to recognize alumni and friends for “conspicuous service to Yale.” The board of Mory’s regrets not having recognized Dr. Wasserman’s leadership during her lifetime and wishes to celebrate her service to scholarship, her critical work at Yale, and her legacy as one of the prime movers in implementing coeducation nationally. We look forward to an opportunity to honor her clear-headed vision of what coeducation should be and the extraordinary role she played in making it a reality and, in the process, making Yale a better place.
